FRESHLONG™ Stick
Simple Activation. Standardized Dosing. On-Site 1-MCP Generation.
Premeasured 1-MCP Gas-Generating System for Professional Postharvest Treatment
FRESHLONG™ Stick is a sealed 1-MCP gas-generating system designed for professional postharvest treatment. Component A is contained in the outer plastic tube, while Component B is sealed inside an inner glass tube. When the Stick is bent, the inner glass tube breaks and the two components mix inside the sealed outer tube. The activated stick is then heated in a hot-water unit to support the reaction and generate 1-MCP gas.
For technical use by trained personnel only. Commercial availability and regulatory positioning depend on the registration requirements of each country.

Product Overview
A Sealed Two-Component System
FRESHLONG™ Stick separates the two liquid components until the moment of activation.
- Component A is contained in the outer plastic tube.
- Component B is sealed inside the inner glass tube.
- The components remain physically separated during storage and transportation.
- Bending the stick breaks the inner glass tube.
- The components mix inside the sealed outer plastic tube.
- The outer plastic tube remains intact during proper activation and use.
No transfer, pouring, or local subdivision of the liquid components is required before activation.
Procedure
How Stick Works

Select the Required Stick Size
Select the appropriate Stick size or combination of sizes according to the treatment chamber volume.

Bend and Activate
Bend the Stick until the inner glass tube breaks. This allows Component A and Component B to mix inside the sealed outer plastic tube.

Remove the Cap and Insert the Stick
Remove the cap after activation and insert the Stick vertically into the designated hole of the acrylic bracket. The open end is used for gas release during heating.

Heat to Generate 1-MCP Gas
Place the acrylic bracket into the hot-water heating unit. Heat supports the reaction of the mixed components and the generation of 1-MCP gas.
Operating note: Multiple Sticks may be combined in one acrylic bracket to match the required chamber treatment volume.
Sizing
Available Stick Sizes
| Stick Size | Nominal Treatment Volume |
|---|---|
| 1 Kit | 14.3 m³ |
| 3 Kit | 42.9 m³ |
| 5 Kit | 71.5 m³ |
| 10 Kit | 143 m³ |
Stick sizes can be combined to more closely match the actual chamber volume. Example combinations may include:
- 1 Kit + 3 Kit = 57.2 m³
- 5 Kit + 10 Kit = 214.5 m³
- Multiple 10 Kit sticks for larger treatment chambers
Planning Tool
Stick Combination Calculator
Enter your treatment chamber dimensions to estimate the total volume, then combine 1, 3, 5, and 10 Kit sticks to reach the target treatment volume. One kit unit corresponds to a nominal treatment volume of 14.3 m³.

Equipment
Water-Heating Activation System
Activated Sticks are inserted vertically into an acrylic bracket. The bracket supports multiple sticks and keeps them in the correct position during heating. The bracket is then placed in a suitable commercial water-heating unit. In Korea, a commercial water-heating unit of this type is currently used as an example of suitable equipment.

Acrylic Bracket — Ten Insertion Holes
Holds activated sticks upright in the correct position during heating.

Example Field Setup
Bracket placed in a commercial water-heating unit beside stacked fruit crates.
The current acrylic bracket includes ten insertion holes, allowing several Sticks to be activated together when a larger treatment quantity is required.
Technical caution: The heating temperature, heating duration, number of sticks, placement of the unit, chamber sealing, exposure period, ventilation, retrieval, and disposal procedure must follow the validated SOP and registered label.
